This study guide will help you focus on the topic of the use of smartphones. Write a summary of text I “You Probably Use Your Smartphone Way More Than You Think” in about 150 words.
Give an outline of the various attitudes to the use of smartphones in texts II and III.
Comment on the following statement from text III: “... cell phones enable teenagers and young adults to become so much more culturally aware than they might’ve otherwise been.”
Write a short article (150-200 words) for the online magazine Future and Technology in which you discuss whether or not people spend too much time on their smartphones.

Presentation of the topic

The use of smartphones has recently become a topic of analysis and scrutiny for researchers. While some believe that youngsters nowadays are damaged by excessive smartphone use, others claim that smartphones can help people have a better grasp of what happens in their society. Social media and the ability to access information can have a positive impact, but people also need to pay attention to the potentially negative consequences that smartphones can have on their lives and their social interactions.
