Literary perspective

The short story “The Shining Mountain” by Alison Fell was first published in 1992 and is written like a contemporary fairy tale. Because of this and its exploration of morality, human nature. and social issues, we can place the story in the context of postmodernism. This literary period began around the middle of the 20th century as a response to the stricter literary movement known as modernism.

Postmodernism encourages experimentation and mixing of writing styles and literary elements. In the case of “The Shining Mountain”, we can see a combination of ordinary life and family issues combined with fantasy and magical elements.
