Sam

Sam in The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky is a senior in high school, so she is around 17 years old when the story starts. She and her stepbrother Patrick make friends with Charlie and introduce him to things such as drugs, alcohol, and parties. Sam is always presented from Charlie’s perspective in the novel. Charlie has a crush on Sam, which develops into love. In Charlie’s eyes, Sam is beautiful: “Sam has brown hair and very very pretty green eyes. The kind of green that doesn’t make a big deal about itself.” (pp. 21-22)
