Analysis

An analysis of the short story “The Pedestrian” by Ray Bradbury shows that it follows a chronological plot structure. The plot includes several elements which foreshadow its ending. 

The story has only two characters, Leonard Mead and a robotic police car. Mead, the main character, stands out through his nonconformist actions and nostalgia. 

The physical setting is a dystopian future somewhere in the US. The social setting looks at a society addicted to technology and a system that does not accept people being different.

The third-person narrator follows the point of view of the main character, Mead, and has limited knowledge of events and people. This brings Mead closer to the readers who feel sympathy for him. 

The language used in the short story combines descriptive passages with alert dialogue, maintaining the reader’s interest. Metaphors and similes are used to highlight the main character’s views on the disconnected society he lives in.
