Analysis

The analysis of the short story “The Meaning of Clouds” by Natalie Cox shows that it has a linear structure with events taking place in chronological order.

The main character in the story is Mags. She is a woman who has recently lost her job and is spending the day looking after Bella, her stepdaughter.

The physical setting is a town in England. The main story takes place during a single morning in July, although we learn a bit about what happened before and after.

The story is told by the main character Mags, a first-person narrator. Mags’ point of view plays a significant role in how the events of the story are presented.

The language in lines 1-17 is mostly informal. However, there are also examples of more complex language and figurative language that reflects the narrator’s mood.
