King

King is the leader of the King Lords gang in The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. His gang controls much of the drug market in Garden Heights.

King is one of the main villains in the story, and he is portrayed very negatively throughout the novel. He is violent and abusive towards his wife and it is implied that he also directs this violence towards his own children (Chapter 3, Chapter 21). He also hit Seven when Seven tried to stop him from hitting Iesha. King is a ruthless gang leader who is willing to go to extreme lengths to punish anyone who tries to cross him - even going so far as to beat up old Mr. Lewis just for mentioning his gang on TV.
