In your analysis of “The Gettysburg Address” by Abraham Lincoln, you should also consider commenting and discussing those statements that may be especially interesting or controversial.

For example, the beginning of the speech is considered a powerful and creative introduction because the speaker uses a biblical-sounding phrase – “Fourscore and seven years ago” (l. 1). This is a more poetic way of saying 87 years ago and immediately catches the audience’s attention, giving more weight to the speaker’s next allusion to the US Declaration of Independence.
