Setting

The action of the novel The Fault in Ours Stars by John Green takes place at the time the story was written, in 2012. 16-year-old Hazel Grace Lancaster and 17-year-old Augustus Waters both live as only children with their parents in the city of Indianapolis in the state of Indiana in the USA ,where most of the story takes place. 

Some of the events take place in Amsterdam in the Netherlands, where the two teenagers travel for a few days. Here they visit the Anne Frank House, the Filosoof Hotel and Oranjee Restaurant, and Vondelpark. These places are all real.

The narrative time, that is, the time it takes to read the 313-page novel, is about 5-6 hours. The narrated time, that is, the time of the action, is about half a year, from March to July. From ...
