For a start, the short film “The English Teacher” shows that people sometimes choose unusual ways of dealing with guilt. In the film, Jin has been overcome by the guilt of hitting Robert’s wife with his car and fleeing the scene of the accident instead of trying to help. Consequently, he has come up with the unusual plan of hiring Robert to teach him English, to be able to apologize to him properly.
