The genocide of over six million Jews conducted by the Nazi regime is referred to as the “Holocaust” or “Shoah”. It is one of the cruelest crimes in human history, to which Anne Frank and all the other secret annex residents also fell victim. Only Otto Frank survived the Auschwitz death camp.

At the latest from October 1941, when Jews were forbidden to leave the German Reich, it was clear that the solution to the “Jewish Question” that the Nazi regime had in mind would result in genocide. In Poland, extermination sites were set up with gas vans, where the systematic murder of people was tested. The gas used was the T4 gas, which had previously been used to murder people with hereditary diseases in the German Reich.
