Style of language

"Soldier's Home" by Ernest Hemingway is written in a minimalist style. The sentences are mainly short and matter-of-fact: “Krebs and the corporal look too big for their uniforms. The German girls are not beautiful. The Rhine does not show in the picture.” (p. 1, ll. 6-7). 

The story also contains dialogue, which is often used to highlight the relationships between the characters.
