Summary

“She’s the Bomb” by T. Coraghessan Boyle tells the story of Hailey Phegler. It begins with a series of text messages Hailey sends to an unknown person. She texts that she wants to kill herself. We are told that she is at a college graduation ceremony, and she is panicking.

Hailey sees Stephanie Joiner, a girl who attended the same course as Hailey. Stephanie seems surprised to see Hailey there, but she congratulates her nonetheless. However, Hailey feels bad about talking to Stephanie and being at the ceremony.  

She texts that she is desperate to leave the event, especially because her mother is there. It becomes evident that Hailey is just pretending to be graduating, and she does not want to tell her mother that she is no longer enrolled in colle...
