Uddrag
Nedenfor kan du se et kort uddrag fra vores study guide til teksten:
Beginning
The story begins in medias res, but quickly moves on to introduce a bit of backstory: two men, Daniel and Norman (l. 64), are travelling in a Camaro provided by Daniel’s friend, Stuart. We also learn that Stuart will later be questioned and will deny knowing that Daniel and Norman took the car. This is a foreshadowing element for Norman being caught by the police later.
The exposition continues with the two men riding in the car “on I-65 heading south through Alabama towards the Gulf of Mexico.” (ll. 3-4). The narrator explains the reason for their trip: “This was our trip to start anew – new life, new ways, no chains, and no obligations.” (ll. 4-5). However, the narrator does not immediately reveal that the two men are escaped prisoners.
