Summary

“Ray the Rottweiler” by Alice Jolly starts by informing us about Ray, a man who is constantly gossiped about and criticised by his village community. People in the community even believe he murdered his wife and buried her in the garden after his dogs ate her. Tess, a woman who has recently moved to the area with her husband Adam and her sick child Josh, decides to visit Ray, who is her nearest neighbour. She bakes some biscuits and takes her son who is in a pushchair to visit Ray.

Ray’s property is full of Rottweiler dogs. Ray brings Tess tea, and they converse through the fence. Tess tells Ray that Josh is no longer attending school because he has been bullied because of his eczema. Ray states that school is unnecessary and plays with Josh...
