Summary

The short film “Prom” by Imran J. Khan begins by showing Hasan, an Indian-American teenager, at his home, first in the bathroom and then in his bedroom. From another room, his father asks him in Hindi where the remote is, and Hasan replies in English. Hasan puts on a suit, shoes, and cologne. He then leaves his home, seemingly avoiding his father, who is watching television in the living room.

The film then shows Hasan riding a bike. He stops in a parking lot, where he locks the bike, and he goes inside a supermarket. Inside, Hasan looks at corsages and notices a couple of white teenagers who are formally dressed.

The man working the counter is one of Hasan's friends. As he realizes that Hasan is heading to prom, he laughs and jokingly tells him that his father is going to kill him. Hasan replies that his father knows that he is going to prom, but the man does not believe him. He also asks Hasan about his date, and he replies that her name is Bethany. The man seems impressed and lets Hasan take the corsage for free.
