Conflict

In Imran J. Khan’s short film “Prom”, the characters experience various inner conflicts, which are suggested through dialogue, actions, and facial expressions. However, we also see examples of outer conflicts between the various characters.

For example, Hasan sneaking out of his home (01:37-01: 50), and his friend’s comment that his father will kill him for going to prom (03:29-03: 31), suggest an outer conflict between Hasan and his father, as it is implied that his father does not approve of Hasan going to prom. The exact reasons behind this are unclear, but it is clear that Hasan and his father disagree on the importance of prom (or at least that Hasan is convinced that his father disagrees), as Hasan decides to go even without his father’s approval.
