Narrator and point of view

The novel Mother to Mother by Sindiwe Magona is narrated by a first-person narrator who is also the main character of the novel. Throughout the book, the narrator addresses the mother of the young woman murdered by the narrator’s son. She recounts the events of the day when the murder occurred and the aftermath in the following days. She also shares moments from her childhood in order to show the context and environment that Mxolisi grew up in, so it can be understood why he was driven to commit the murder.
