Summary

“Marionettes, Inc.” by Ray Bradbury tells the story of two men, Braling and Smith, and their wives.

Braling and Smith are walking together towards Braling’s house. Smith is complaining because this is the first time in 10 years that Braling has gone out for a drink with him. Smith asks Braling how he managed to convince his wife to let him go out. The two begin talking about Braling’s unhappy marriage, recounting how his wife forced him to marry her. Braling confesses that he regrets that he wasn’t able to visit Rio de Janeiro before marrying his wife, but he shows Smith that he has bought a ticket to Rio and tells him that he is leaving for a month in Rio in a few days.
