Kamala Harris begins her Inauguration Speech by greeting the audience. The speech can be split into three parts which look in turn at the ambition of the American nation, past examples of what that ambition has achieved, and how it can be used to improve America’s future.

In the first part of her speech, Harris talks about the aspiration and determination that characterizes America: 

We not only dream, we do. We not only see what has been, we see what can be. We shoot for the moon, and then we plant our flag on it. We are bold, fearless, and ambitious. We are undaunted in our belief that we shall overcome, that we will rise up.
