Her most popular works are the novel Americanah (2013), Half of a Yellow Sun (2006), and Purple Hibiscus (2003), and the essay We Should All Be Feminists (2012). Her fiction often centers on race and gender, and her nonfiction writing explores feminist themes. The short story “Jumping Monkey Hill” was first published in the online edition of Granta Magazine. Later, the story was slightly edited and published as part of Adichie’s collection The Thing Around Your Neck (2008). In this guide we will refer to the version published in Granta.
