His other intention is to convince them of the need to set aside any differences they might have and stand united.

Throughout the speech, Biden mainly uses pathos to inspire the audience to act. He appeals to the audience’s feelings of worry and uncertainty by mentioning all the current issues the United States is facing and stressing the severity of the challenges the nation is facing.
