Intention

In his Inaugural Address, Joe Biden’s main intention is to persuade the audience that he will be a president who addresses their concerns and to motivate the audience to stand united in order to be able to improve the current situation of the United States. His other intention is to convince them of the need to set aside any differences they might have and stand united.

Throughout the speech, Biden mainly uses pathos to inspire the audience to act. He appeals to the audience’s feelings of worry and uncertainty by mentioning all the current issues the United States is facing and stressing the severity of the challenges the nation is facing. This reminds the audience that they need to act in order to change and improve the country they are living in.
