Jeff Benedict and Armen Keteyian’s intention with the extract “Family Matters” is to inform readers about Tiger’s life and the events that made him what he is today. It tries to do so in an entertaining way.

However, while appearing as just an informative text on the surface, the biography also has a hidden intention of creating awareness about how parents influence their children, for better or for worse. It is hard not to feel pity for little Tiger who was pushed so hard. It is, therefore, also a persuasive text.
