Chapter summaries

The title of Ray Bradbury's dystopia Fahrenheit 451 (1953) corresponds to the temperature at which paper begins to burn. In the future totalitarian society presented in the novel, a million dangerous books are banned altogether. If they are discovered anywhere, they are burned immediately. The fire department takes care of this with the help of the "Mechanical Hound". The title is directly related to the activity of the main character, Guy Montag, who at the beginning of the narrative is very obedient and enjoys his activity in his firefighting unit.
