Uddrag
Nedenfor kan du finde et kort uddrag fra vores study guide til teksten:
Style of writing
The language used by Kelli Jean Drinkwater in “Enough with the fear of fat” is simple, humorous, and easy to understand.
For example, the speaker often uses idioms that create humor: “…it’s been quite the roller coaster. (…) I also receive smiles from strangers who recognize what it takes to walk down the street with a spring in your step and your head held high.” (ll. 44-46)
Additionally, she alludes to informal or offensive gestures: “…all done with a middle finger firmly held up to the status quo.” (l. 60)
Consider also that she uses many link words and phrases that make the speech sound more natural, as opposed to rigid and rehearsed: “Now, I’m not saying that this whole body-love thing has been an easy skip…” (l. 41); “But to be clear, I’m not saying that people shouldn’t change their bodies…” (l. 62); “But of course, work that pushes people’s buttons…” (l. 89)
