Rhetorical devices

Rhetorical devices refer to an array of stylistic elements and figures of speech which give a text a special tone, make it more attractive and help put arguments forward. Here we discuss the following rhetorical devices used in "The truth about male friendship:

Direct quotations

Quoting authority figures is something typical to the article genre, rendering more credibility to the message and the arguments.
