Summary

Richard Lockhart, the main character of "The Traveller" by Ryan O'Neil, feels lost on the streets of his hometown in Australia, where he has returned after many years of travels in Africa. He keeps comparing the landscape in his hometown with those in African cities.  Lockhart eventually reaches the school of his nephew, Paul, and picks him up. On the way, Paul gives his uncle an envelope with money he has earned at a school competition about countries and their capital cities. The money is supposedly for an orphanage in Africa. On the way back, Richard keeps asking Paul the names of the capitals of various countries.

Back home, Richard goes to his room to take a shower and avoids Paul’s questions. When his sister, Narelle, returns from work, Richard finds out that the doctors had discovere...
