“The Thing Around Your Neck” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has several elements of postmodernist literature. 

The second-person narrative is a technique sometimes used in postmodernist literature, because it helps the readers empathize with the main character and their experience. The point of view is also subjective, although not unreliable. 

Another postmodernist element is the presence of important contemporary and social issues. For instance, the main theme of the story is cultural differences. The story also explores interracial relationships, the status of immigrants, and racial stereotypes.
