Summary

“The Night of the Full Moon” by K. S. Duggal focuses on Malan and her daughter Minnie, who look very similar. The mother has an admirer, a pearl dealer who comes looking for her every full moon and whom she met 20 years ago in her mango grove. Minnie is about to get married, and Malan tries not to think about the pearl dealer, whose advances she had always refused. As Minnie returns from the temple, Malan thinks about the girl’s wedding and how alone she will feel after the girl leaves her parent’s house. Malan’s husband is away shopping for the wedding. Malan reflects on her unhappy marriage and how her husband never gave her the affection and attention she needed.
