Title

The title of the short story indicates the account is going to be about Christmas or take places around Christmas time. But, unlike typical Christmas stories which are about good, pleasant moments and celebrating life, this short story presents a dystopian society in which children are rented for Christmas to childless people. Consequently, children become an object of consumption and are dehumanized, while Christmas or Noel comes to be associated with a profitable time of the year when the business of renting children thrives. Consequently, the story has nothing to do with values and feelings we normally associate Christmas with.
