Title

The title of the short story, “No Angel”, suggests the text is about someone who is very different from an angel: a person with faults and imperfections. Upon reading the short story, we realise the title refers to the narrator’s dead father who appears to her on several occasions. The ghost of his father maintains most of the features of the father when he was alive. He looks almost the same and acts almost the same as when he was living. Consequently, there is nothing angelic or spiritual about the dead father. The short story’s title suggests a more human approach to life after death, rather than the idealised version promoted by religion.
