Sarah Boseley appeals to reason whenever she mentions data, statistics, facts, or logical arguments that support her views. For example, there are exact details about how Georgia Davis was taken out of her house “In May 2012” (l. 1) when “A team of more than 40 people was involved in demolishing an upstairs wall…” (ll. 7-9)

The writer also cites various statistics about overweight and obese people meant to convince the receivers that they should take these issues seriously. Here are some examples: “Two-thirds of us are overweight. A quarter of us are obese and in real danger of damaging our health and dying prematurely.” (ll. 36-39); “Moderate obesity cuts life expectancy by two to four years, and severe obesity could wipe an entire decade off your life, said the Lancet in 2009.”
