Analysis

An analysis of Margaret Atwood’s short story “Happy Endings” reveals that the story has an unusual, non-traditional structure and includes several plots. Each plot, except for D, E, and F, have their own beginning, middle, and ending, and some are also characterized by tension points. 

The main characters in A, B, and C are John and Mary. They are different in each option, even though they also share a few similar traits. The main characters from option D and E are Fred and Madge, but they are not strongly characterized and are primarily used as plot devices.
