Title

The title of the story is intriguing at first, as its meaning is not clear from the start. In the restaurant, when Charles comes back from the bathroom, he sings “Unforgettable”, a song performed by Nat King Cole, an American singer:

Charles is making his way back to their table, steadying himself on the bar as he hums Unforgettable. On rainy Sunday afternoons, he used to put the record player on in the living room and they would dance to Nat King Cole. (ll. 76-78)

As Katherine recalls past times, when she and Charles used to dance to Nat King Cole’s songs, the meaning of the song “Unforgettable” resurfaces.
