Summary

“Could It Be Forever” by Nina Stibbe follows the adventures of an eleven-year-old girl from England. She is convinced by her sister and her friend Celia that Celia’s cousin Dave likes her and wants to exchange letters with her. Following an exchange of letter in which the narrator talks about Princess Anne getting engaged or a historical figure Dave supposedly likes, Dave keeps asking her to reveal her feelings for him.

The narrator’s third letter tries to be more personal, but Dave’s reply is again very concise: he only wants to know whether the girl loves him. The girl’s fourth letter contains the fact that she loves him.
