Niall Ferguson’s main intention with the book excerpt Empire: How Britain Made the Modern World is to show readers the positive contributions of the British Empire and to persuade them that the British Empire was a leader in the process of modernization

Ferguson mainly delivers his message with the help of logos, which helps him argue for his point of view.
