Perspectives

To give you a broader perspective on the short story “Arrangement in Black and White” by Dorothy Parker we will add some points connected to literary period and similar works.

Literary period

Dorothy Parker’s short story was published during the literary period we call Modernism. Modernism developed in the first half of the twentieth century. As a literary movement, it reflects the issues of those times, and “Arrangement in Black and White” similarly explores racial discrimination in the American society of the 1920s.
