Donald J. Trump (f. 1946) er USAs 45. præsident. Tidligere var han en berømt forretningsmand og tv-personlighed. Han blev indsat som præsident i januar 2017 og hans politiske standpunkt er republikansk.

Pathos

The speaker appeals to emotions to make the audience accept his views at an emotional level. He stirs several different emotions in the speech. The most obvious example is where he attempts to appeal to negative emotions of frustration, fear, and disappointment with the situation in the US which he blames on the political class. He does this by referring to controversial issues such as immigration and the war in Iraq: “They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists.” (ll. 27-28); “We have wounded soldiers, who I love, I love – they're great – all over the place, thousands and thousands of wounded soldiers.” (ll. 53-55)
