Audience

Donald Trump’s inaugural address was delivered in front of a live audience of a few hundred thousand people and was televised nationally and internationally. The total audience is estimated at around 30 million people. Note that many newspapers published images showing the size of the audience that appeared for Trump’s inauguration and compared it to the size of the audience for Obama’s first inauguration in 2009. Photographs showed that Trump’s audience was considerably smaller, although Trump and members of his staff denied this.

The speech was widely covered by the media but not always in favorable terms. A number of magazines and newspapers published the speech with commentaries that suggest Donald Trump used populist, negative rhetoric.
