The state-loyal director

The Director of the Hatchery and Conditioning Center London (short: DHC) is called Thomas / Tomakin. He is tall and slim, has a “long chin and big rather prominent teeth, just covered, when he was not talking, by his full, floridly curved lips.” (Chapter 1, 11%).

The figure of the Director symbolizes the citizen loyal to the regime: he is convinced that the new social system represents the perfect world. The central office, which he directs, is responsible for the artificial reproduction, conditioning, and indoctrination of the coming citizens as well as their high productivity. As he guides students through the center, he proudly explains the benefits of research done here. He quotes the planetary motto: " ‘Collectivity, Identity, Stability’ "...
