Mustapha Mond

The powerful and well-educated World Controller

Mustapha Mond is “a man of middle height, black-haired, with a hooked nose, full red lips, eyes very piercing and dark” (Chapter 3, 10%).He is  an Alpha-Plus and the “Resident Controller of Western Europe. One of the Ten World Controllers…” (Chapter 3, 14%) who control the new World State. Before Mond became a World Controller, he worked as a physicist (Chapter 16, 64%). He is extremely intelligent and educated. At the beginning of the story, Mond seizes the opportunity to give the students a history lesson: he describes the ancient world to them. He has a thorough knowledge of philosophy, science, and history.

A powerful politician, Mond is used to making important decisions and is respected by everyone. He controls everything that goes on in his area of responsibility. He allows, for example, Bernard Marx to bring John and his mother to London for scientific reasons and personally arranges the entry of the ‘savage’.
