Ian

Ian is the main character in the short story “Bone Deep” by Martin Malone. He is also the narrator of the story, and the events are told from his point of view. 

Ian is a 13-year-old boy who lives with his family. He has two older siblings who live with him: 15-year-old Ann and 16-year-old Terry. Ian’s other sister, Elly, who is 18, is married and lives with her husband. The other brother, Marcus, who was Terry’s twin, died in the car accident which left Terry disabled.

Ian is clever and insightful, with a clarity of perception which exceeds his age.
