How media influence our lives and worldview

The key theme of the story is how photos and media influence people lives and perspectives on the world, with a particular focus on the internet and social media.

In the story, the narrator is likely a photojournalist who travels to different places in the world to cover important topics such as political rallies or war. His photos appear in the media (probably online and in newspapers), but the narrator is conflicted about his role as a part of the media. He mentions feeling like a “vulture” because he seeks to capture photos of people’s suffering. At the same time, he takes comfort that his photos are a way to make the world aware of what is really happening around the globe, an in this way prevent further suffering from happening. In other words, the photos can help us understand the world around  us and perhaps prevent us from repeating past mistakes. Nevertheless, the same photos only capture part of reality. The narrator’s photos only capture specific moments of conflict and war. When they become public around the world, published in magazines and online media, they only show the public what the photographer’s lenses saw, which is always only part of the story.
