In this part of the study guide, we will talk about the audience of Barack Obama’s speech, “The American Promise”, at the 2008 Democratic Convention in Denver, Colorado. We will also talk about the wider audience of the speech (who witnessed it through different kinds of media) and about Obama’s target audience.

The speech was delivered in Denver, Colorado, during the 2008 Democratic Convention. The Convention lasted four days, from 25th of August to 28th of August, 2008. Although the first speeches were held at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado, Obama’s acceptance speech was moved to Invesco Field at Mile High, a football stadium, where over 84,000 people could attend.
