Logos

Obama uses logos when he wants to convince his audience through facts and logic. For instance, logos is employed when Obama talks about the danger of nuclear weapons – suggesting they are not only a danger for Israel, but a danger for the entire world:

Pathos

Throughout his speech, Obama sometimes relies on pathos to stir various feelings in the audience.

When he talks about the history of Israel and the importance of the younger Israeli generation to take Israel's future in its own hands, Obama stirs feelings of responsibility and patriotism: "...you will define the future of Israel as well." (ll. 340-341)

Your voices must be louder than the extremists who would drown them out. Your hopes must light the way forward. Look to a future in which Jews, Muslims and Christians can all live in peace and greater prosperity in this Holy Land. (ll. 407-412)
