You are studying economics at Columbia University in New York. You have been asked to give a speech on climate change and President Obama's action plan to the debate team of the university. In the speech, you present Obama's plan and the reasons behind it. You also discuss the arguments put forward in the public debate and comment on possible consequences of the plan for the American business life.

Opposition

Throughout his presidential mandates, President Obama has encountered opposition from other candidates. The Clean Power Plan is no exception to the rule. As Source 3 (“GOP presidential candidates pounce on climate plan”) presents, the plan is mostly opposed by Republicans: “… several Republican presidential candidates were quick to condemn the aggressive regulations and vow to roll them back.” (ll. 5-7).
