Tone

Tom Law’s tone is mainly ironic and critical but also nostalgic. When he talks about the way in which Welsh has been subdued by the English language, Law’s tone is ironic and sarcastic:

The Welsh language has declined so rapidly because the English placed a pillow over its face and smothered it. It has taken around years to complete, there have been occasional bouts of kicking and thrashing against, but it's pretty much job done. (ll. 123-128)

Also, Law’s tone becomes critical when he talks about the way in which the English language has engulfed the languages of other nations, without the right to appeal
