Her er Studienets study guide til at besvare A-opgaven i eksamenssættet til skriftlig Engelsk B på HF fra 1. juni 2012, hvor spørgsmålet lød:

The texts in section A focus on competitive sport.

  1. Write a summary of text 1 “Competitive sport for children at the heart of Olympics legacy” in about 150 words.
  2. Give an outline of the various attitudes to competitive sport in the three texts.
  3. Comment on the following statement from text 3: “If the alleged health benefits of sports are to be realised, then it needs to be voluntary and enjoyable.”
  4. Because of new rules, the local school has to introduce competitive sport from the age of seven. Write an article (150-200 words) for the school magazine in which you discuss the positive and negative consequences of this decision.

Texts

  • “Competitive sport for children at the heart of Olympics legacy”
  • Sir Steve Redgrave, “Competitive sport is all very well but helping every child reach their potential must be Britain's Olympic legacy”
  • Matthew Green, “Competitive Sports: Making It Compulsory Is Futile”

Uddrag

Herunder kan du læse en smagsprøve på vores study guide:

The statement of Matthew Green explains his fear and reluctance towards making competitive sports compulsory. We can understand his hesitance as we imagine children competing only for the sake of competing, and children playing because they really enjoy the game.
